Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. Many of us, especially when it comes to our religious circles, have heard of the Great Commission. The word is not there, but the principle is. Mark 16:15 says for us to go and preach the Gospel. The key word is "Go." Many of us actually do not like that term. The word "Go" comes from the Greek word "poreuomai" and it means to actually go. We need to go out into the World and preach the Gospel.
When thinking about going, just imagine yourself fishing in a boat. The fish hardly will ever come into the boat. We would have to use bait and fish and then we would catch fish. That's what it's like when we are commanded to go. Often, we think up excuses. Every time when I go out to preach, I could think of at least 100 reasons or excuses of not to go. But by going, I can catch fish. That is what the Bible says when Jesus said that we would be fishers of men.
However, we think that the world would come to the Church. That is the equivalent of having the fish jumping into the boat. It doesn't happen very often. The world hates anything to do with the Light of the Gospel. They are like cockroaches. They love the darkness. They abide in the darkness because they, themselves, are part of the darkness (1 John 1:6). But when the light turns on, they scatter.
So let's look at another word in Mark 16:15. The word "preach" comes from "kērussō", which is translated into Herald. What a herald does, he goes to a street corner and lifts up his voice to announce the coming of the King. And that is what this verse tells us. We need to go out and publicly announce the coming of the future King.
We must seek and save the lost. There is a certain amount of time left. Soon, Salvation will be over for the lost and the wicked will forever go into a place of everlasting torment, called Hell. If we honestly care about people, we should go and proclaim the Good News about the coming King. We need to be heralds.
